Meta, the company responsible for platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, recently presented a new application for mobile devices called “Pocket”. The main innovation of this tool is the ability to allow users to create short, interactive games from simple text commands. Pocket positions itself as a creative platform that explores the potential of artificial intelligence.

Within the application, users just need to type in the concept of the desired game, and the AI develops a small game. Meta named these generated games “Gizmos”. In addition to the creation function, the app has a feed that allows you to explore and play exclusive creations from other users, promoting interaction and discovery.

Pocket goal – Disclosure

The app’s existence was initially revealed by renowned reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who released a screenshot of Pocket on an iPhone

It is important to highlight that Meta did not develop Pocket from scratch. Earlier this year, the company acquired startup Gizmo and its team. Gizmo already had a platform that allowed the creation of similar games using text prompts. Before being deactivated, the Gizmo app recorded more than 600,000 downloads on iOS and Android devices, gaining a large user base. Taking advantage of this success and the team’s expertise, Meta integrated the acquired talent and created the Pocket application.

This move aligns with Meta’s broader strategy in the field of artificial intelligence, which already includes image generation via Meta AI, AI-powered videos in the “Vibes” app, and AI capabilities in “Edits.” The foray into the gaming sector intensifies competition in the AI content creation market. While Meta has yet to issue an official statement regarding Pocket, a significant update is expected in the coming weeks.
