Meta presents Pocket, a new application that uses artificial intelligence to develop games and digital interactions
Meta this week quietly introduced Pocket, a tool that allows users to develop minigames and other interactive content formats without the need for programming knowledge. The application uses artificial intelligence to produce so-called “gizmos”, which are digital experiences originating from the platform.
This launch is an offshoot of the acquisition of the startup Atma Sciences team, a pioneer in the creation of the Gizmo gaming platform, carried out by Meta at the beginning of this year. The contract also included a license to use the technology developed by the company, a strategy that signals Meta’s growing investment in the democratization of the development of interactive content via AI.
Understand how the Meta Pocket app works
According to Facebook’s parent company, Pocket bills itself as a “creative platform dedicated to generating and sharing Gizmos.” In turn, a “gizmo” is defined as a smaller interactive element, designed to be manipulated and played directly on the smartphone screen, after being created with text commands provided to artificial intelligence.

- After creating a gizmo with textual instructions, the developer can allow it to be interacted with and remixed by other users, allowing for improvements.
- The application’s feed displays several gizmos, just a tap or following the instructions to start the game.
- Some interactions require tapping, sliding or dragging elements on the screen, or even shaking and tilting the device to control movement.
- Experiences can incorporate soundtracks and sound effects, as well as camera and microphone usage, if permissions are granted.
To do so, creating and interacting with gizmos on Pocket requires a Meta account, the same one used on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. It is important to note that the interactions carried out within the application will be used to improve the technological giant’s artificial intelligence systems.
Meta should start promoting Pocket on its social networks soon, in parallel with the Instants application, according to information from developer Alessandro Paluzzi. He obtained details about the release by reverse engineering the software.
Meta Pocket App Restricted Access
Despite the absence of an official statement, Meta’s Pocket app can now be downloaded, however, only for Android devices. Its availability is restricted to specific markets, as detailed by the company itself in its support section.

The tech giant clarified that “the Pocket app is not yet available everywhere. While it appears to you, some features may not yet be available in your area.” Due to these restrictions, the expectation is that this new tool is in a preliminary testing stage.
