However, the development of God of War Laufey appears to be progressing without major interruptions, indicating that the highly anticipated title may hit the market sooner than expected. While Santa Monica Studio may opt for a delay, there are no signs that the project is facing significant difficulties.
Good news indicates that new information about God of War Laufey will be released soon. The game is positioned between major PlayStation releases, such as Marvel’s Wolverine and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, scheduled to arrive in late summer and early fall. Soon, details about Laufey and his companions in the God of War Laufey universe should be revealed.
The official PlayStation Blog confirmed a panel dedicated to God of War at the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con, scheduled forFriday, July 24th. The session will take place in Ballroom 20 at the San Diego Convention Center, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, Pacific Time.
The participation of important figures has already been announced for the event. God of War director Ariel Lawrence and Santa Monica chief creative officer Cory Barlog will participate in a chat with actors Deborah Ann Woll (Faye), Christopher Judge (Kratos), Jack Quaid (Phranque) and Perlina Lau (Rue), discussing their characters and performances.
Although the discussion about characters and performances already fills the panel’s time, there is an expectation for unexpected announcements. Considering the 20 minutes of God of War Laufey gameplay featured at PlayStation State of Play in June 2026 and reporter Jason Schreier’s speculation about a February or March 2027 release, an official date announcement could be imminent.
