United States armed forces launched a new round of air offensives against Iran on the morning of this Wednesday, July 15, 2026, as announced by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) on its account on the X platform.

The military command detailed that “at 6 am (Eastern Time) today, US Central Command forces began launching a wave of attacks against Iran,” in an official statement.

These military actions have the main objective of weakening Iranian military capabilities, often used in attacks against commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

The current offensive coincides with the reimposition of an American naval blockade on Iranian ports and represents the fourth consecutive night of attacks aimed at the country’s territory, marking an escalation in tensions.

Deaths and damage reported in night and early morning operations

The Iranian Army confirmed, this Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the death of at least seven Iranian soldiers in night attacks by the United States against a military base located in the city of Bampur, in the southeast region of the country, as reported by the local state press.

“Seven soldiers — including active service members and recruits — from the Iranian Army Land Forces died in Bampur,” said Iranian state news agency IRNA, which cited statements from Iran’s own army.

The same media outlet added that other members of the armed forces were injured in the clashes and are receiving medical assistance.

In turn, CENTCOM (US Central Command) reported having hit “dozens of military targets” during a new sequence of attacks that lasted seven hours.

The American Armed Forces had already announced, on the night of Tuesday, July 14, 2026, that dozens of strategic targets near the Strait of Hormuz and in Iranian coastal areas were impacted. The wave of offensives lasted around seven hours, according to a statement from the command.

Fatemeh Mohajerani, spokesperson for the Iranian government, declared that at least 30 civilians lost their lives in recent days as a result of American attacks in the southern region of Iran, as reported by state media this Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Hostilities between Iran and the United States resumed the previous week, jeopardizing a fragile truce that had been negotiated in June after months of conflict that resulted in thousands of deaths.

Trump’s statements include threats to Iran’s energy sector

US President Donald Trump issued a warning on Tuesday, saying attacks on Iranian power plants and bridges could occur next week if Tehran does not resume negotiations.

“I’m going to save the energy sector targets for last, but at the end of the day, we’re going to attack them,” Trump said during an interview with Fox News’ Trey Yingst. The American president also reported that US negotiators were in contact with their Iranian counterparts to reinforce the need to “reach an agreement”.

With tensions rising, Trump had proposed on Monday the implementation of a 20% tax on shipping through the strait, a suggestion that provoked strong opposition from the UN shipping agency and other sectors. However, on Tuesday he rejected the idea, mentioning, without details, that he would seek investment agreements with Gulf nations.

Oil prices rose this Wednesday, after closing with a 2% increase on Tuesday, reaching the highest price in a month. This appreciation occurred as recent attacks intensified disruptions to supply passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

For the second session in a row, the Brent contract ended the day at its highest level since June 12, while the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) reached its highest since June 15. Both contracts showed additional appreciation at the start of trading this Wednesday.
