Elton John and Prince Harry: disagreement over money undermines decades-long friendship
The almost thirty-year relationship between artist Elton John and Prince Harry is facing a delicate moment. Journalist Paula Froelich revealed that the singer set a limit to the Duke of Sussex’s frequent requests for money. The response regarding the loans was anything but subtle, with one source indicating that Elton reportedly stated: “I’m not an ATM.”
This friction, according to information, began due to a complex financial situation at the Invictus Games, an initiative created by Harry to promote sports competitions aimed at military personnel and veterans.
As pointed out by Froelich, the project needed “sponsorship” to sustain its operations. The amount required to cover expenses would be approximately £25 million, equivalent to approximately R$170.25 million. To date, fundraising has reached just £4 million, approximately R$27.24 million. Faced with this instability, Harry would have sought out the singer in search of new resources.

The familiarity that allowed Harry to request loans from Elton John is rooted in the deep connection they have maintained since the death of Princess Diana, in a tragic car accident in 1997. Reports indicate that, after the loss of his mother, King Charles’ youngest son found support and an almost fraternal role in his life in Elton.
Over three decades of companionship, Elton became a staunch supporter and confidant of the prince. Close sources claim that the singer has already offered his villa in France as a private refuge to Harry and Meghan Markle during periods of intense media pressure. He was also one of the musical acts at the Sussexes’ wedding.

Journalist Froelich also highlighted that, in 2019, Elton made his private jet available for the couple’s trips to the south of France and Ibiza. Loss in court case complicates Harry’s moment
The request for funds, according to sources interviewed by Froelich, would have occurred at a particularly inconvenient time. The reason is that the singer, the prince and other public figures had been defeated in a legal action against Associated Newspapers Ltd., the publisher responsible for publishing the Daily Mail, on charges of illegally obtaining information.
The judge in charge of the case concluded that the applicants did not present sufficient evidence to support their allegations. According to specialized media, this decision resulted in those involved being ordered to pay the legal costs. The total value of the action was not disclosed.
