MG Motor announced the official arrival of the MG4 Urban to the Brazilian market, with prices starting at R$129,990. The new electric hatch promises to intensify competition in the electrified vehicle segment, which is gaining more and more space in the country. The model is expected to be available at dealerships later this month, initially through import. The MG4 Urban will be offered in three options for Brazilian consumers, divided into two finishing lines – Comfort and Luxury – and different battery capacities. Information about configurations and autonomy was released based on data from the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro).
- MG4 Urban Comfort 43 kWh: R$ 129,990
- MG4 Urban Luxury 43 kWh: R$ 139,990
- MG4 Urban Luxury 54 kWh: R$ 149,990
With these values, MG Motor positions the electric hatch in a competitive range, directly facing models already established on the market, such as the BYD Dolphin, GWM Ora 03, Geely EX2 and GAC Aion UT.
Dimensions that make it stand out in the electric market
One of the great differences of the MG4 Urban is its physical size, which elevates it to a superior category compared to its main competitors. While many rivals qualify as more robust compact hatchbacks, the MG4 presents itself as an authentic midsize hatchback. This translates into more space and comfort for occupants, a crucial point for Brazilian families.
The model stands out for being larger in all its external dimensions. At 4.39 meters long, the MG4 Urban is approximately 26 cm longer than the BYD Dolphin. Furthermore, the 1.84 m width provides excellent shoulder space for passengers, and the 2.74 m wheelbase guarantees comfortable accommodation for those traveling in the rear seat, elements that reinforce its value for money appeal.

Battery performance and range
The different configurations of the MG4 Urban come equipped with batteries that guarantee good autonomy for everyday life and travel. Versions with a 43 kWh battery offer a range of 299 km, according to Inmetro measurements. The most complete options, with a 54 kWh battery, promise to go even further, being able to travel up to 358 km on a single charge, according to Brazilian approval.
Both battery capacities utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, known for its durability and safety. MG executives mentioned that, in tests carried out in Brazil, the vehicle achieved 458 km of autonomy. However, it is essential that consumers consider the official Inmetro numbers for comparison purposes in the national market. The direct current rapid recharge system supports up to 87 kW, allowing the battery level to go from 10% to 80% in approximately 28 minutes.
What each version of the MG4 Urban offers
The entry-level version, the MG4 Urban Comfort 43 kWh, already comes with a robust package of equipment and technologies, reinforcing the vehicle’s value proposition.
- 7-inch digital instrument panel.
- Multimedia center with 12.8-inch screen.
- Automatic digital air conditioning with outlets for the rear seat.
- Seven airbags for maximum occupant safety.
- Active safety package with 15 assistants, including autonomous emergency braking and lane keeping assistant.
The Comfort version’s engine delivers 150 hp of power and a torque of 25.5 kgfm, ensuring agile and efficient performance for urban and highway use. The Luxury versions should complement this package with more sophisticated finishes and possible additional comfort and technology features, in addition to the option of greater autonomy.
