Prince Harry brought news about the health of King Charles III. The reunion between father and son took place about seven days ago, at Highgrove House, the monarch’s private country residence in the county of Gloucestershire, England.
The prince’s statements came during an unexpected appearance at the Time 100 Sports Gala, a ceremony held in New York City on the evening of Thursday, July 16, to celebrate prominent figures in the sporting world. Sources present at the event, as reported, reported that, in dialogues with other participants, Harry stated that Charles “looks great”.
It is important to remember that the king has been facing a battle against cancer since the year 2024. The part of the body affected by the disease remains without public disclosure until now.
Additional information from the same observer present at the gala indicates that Harry also commented on his wife, Meghan Markle, and their heirs, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5. The Duke of Sussex reportedly said that the trio are “happy” to return home after their stay in the United Kingdom. “Children are growing up fast,” he reportedly concluded.
The meeting between Harry and Charles, which also included Queen Consort Camilla, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet, was classified as a “private family occasion” by Buckingham Palace. No photographs of this moment were released to the public.
It will mark the first time in four years that Harry’s children have met Charles. Archie came into the world in 2019, approximately a year before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned from their roles in the monarchy and moved to the United States. Lilibet, in turn, was born in 2021, already in American territory. In 2022, the couple took the little ones to Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, in what had been the young people’s last visit to England.
On the same night as the gala event promoted by Time, Harry also spoke on stage about the Invictus Games, a competition dedicated to war veterans of which he is the patron. The next edition of these games, scheduled for July 2027, was one of the purposes of the prince’s return to England at the beginning of the month.
