Studio Polydin announced on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the development of Black Lake, a new psychological horror and survival title that promises to immerse players in a harrowing experience. The central proposal of the game, developed in first person, is to set the plot in an abandoned orphanage that is adrift at sea, adding an extra layer of isolation and mystery. Scheduled for release on PC in the winter of 2027 and on consoles in the middle of the same year, the game has already had its first trailer and images released.

As detailed by Polydin, the narrative follows Elena, who returns to the orphanage where she grew up after receiving an enigmatic call from her missing twin sister, Rita. The place, which should be unoccupied, turns out to be haunted, with corridors that seem to retain an inexplicable heat, bells that ring and an invisible presence that moves through the walls. While investigating Rita’s whereabouts, Elena uncovers traces of a forbidden ritual, connected to the disappearance of children from the orphanage many years earlier, raising the question of whether some of them still inhabit the place, but in a distorted and unrecognizable form.

First images reveal the dark atmosphere of Black Lake

To survive the oppressive atmosphere of Black Lake, players will need to make strategic use of tools such as cell phones, candles and flashlights, with light playing a key role. The developers indicate that certain creatures are sensitive to the odor of burning wax, offering an intriguing mechanic for confrontations.

In addition to exploration, the game will include several ritual-based puzzles, requiring players to interact with objects in the environment. This combination of limited resources, the dark ocean around us and the need to hide, distract and escape terrifying entities created from the missing children and employees, promises a genuinely innovative and immersive survival horror experience, setting it apart in the genre.
