Prince William and Princess Kate published on Instagram a retrospective of the summer full of family moments, highlighting Princess Kate’s overcoming of the Three Peaks Challenge and William’s message of climate action amid wildfires. The royal couple released a series of images and videos, titled “the summer retrospective”, reflecting on recent events. They expressed gratitude to everyone who made “the last few months so special” with a sun emoji.
The royal family’s summer update comes less than a week after Duchess Meghan revealed photos from her family vacation with her husband, Prince Harry, and their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.
Among the images released on July 28, 2026, one shows William and Kate attending Royal Ascot, where the princess wore an elegant canary yellow ensemble and matching hat. William matched Kate’s vibrant choice with a yellow boutonniere by taking part in the annual five-day horse racing event.
Another photograph captures the family of five amid nature. William and Kate appear lying on the grass, with their children, Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, beside them.
This image, which had been released by the family in April to celebrate William and Kate’s 15th wedding anniversary, was captured by photographer Matt Porteous and includes the family dogs, Otto and Orla, two English cocker spaniels, snuggled up with the quintet.
The Wales family enjoys the sun in a photo posted to Prince William and Princess Kate’s official Instagram account. Another image shared by the couple highlights Princess Kate’s Three Peaks Challenge. In June, the princess scaled Britain’s three highest peaks in 24 hours to raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, in a gesture that takes on even more significance given that the mother of three is in remission from the disease.
A short video in the publications carousel shows the future king talking to Sir David Attenborough, as the renowned naturalist celebrated his centenary.
“It is a rare privilege to celebrate a century of life,” said Prince William at the special concert held at the Royal Albert Hall in London in May. He added, “But it’s even rarer when this person has transformed the way we view the only home we have — planet Earth.”
The visual highlights were shared after Prince William took to Instagram Stories on July 27, 2026, to urge people to protect the planet. His appeal came at a time when devastating bushfires were raging across Europe and the UK. Fires were spreading across Spain and France, prompting evacuations, as a huge blaze destroyed the UK’s biggest national park.
“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the devastating fires in France, Spain and the United Kingdom,” the future king wrote on Instagram stories, thanking rescuers for “working tirelessly in extraordinarily difficult conditions.” The prince further noted that the series of fires serves as “a stark reminder of the challenges posed by increasingly extreme weather and the importance of protecting both people and nature.”
