A plane crash involving a helicopter resulted in the deaths of seven people in the San Juan region, Argentina, on July 29, 2026. The aircraft was involved in training to fight forest fires when it crashed. Local authorities confirmed that there were no survivors.

The Argentine Air Navigation Company (Eana) reported that the helicopter issued an emergency signal at around 10:30 am. The aircraft’s last location record pointed to an area with difficult access, which made search operations difficult.

Rescue teams managed to find the location of the helicopter crash at around 1 pm, as reported by Eana. However, the exact cause of the accident has not yet been clarified by ongoing investigations.

Among the passengers on the aircraft were members of the police and fire department, who were taking part in the training course to fight forest fires.

The crash occurred in the Valle Fértil region, a place that is home to the famous Ischigualasto Park. This area is well known for its unique geological formations and desert vegetation, which annually attracts many tourists. After the incident, visits to the park were temporarily suspended.

The aircraft involved in the accident is from JasFly, a specialized company contracted to provide aerial support during training. The company advertises on its platforms that it offers training programs for forestry brigade members.

In 2023, JasFly had shared a photograph of the helicopter when announcing the expansion of its fleet. At the time, the company highlighted that the model was ideal for transporting critically ill patients and for rescue operations in mountainous terrain or difficult to access land.

The helicopter’s registration number, LV-KGR, which appeared in the company’s publication, is the same as that confirmed by Eana for the accident aircraft. To date, JasFly has not yet issued an official statement regarding the tragedy.
