The long-awaited collaboration between the Helldivers 2 and Warhammer 40k universes will bring a new Legendary Warbond to players starting August 12th. This themed pack will introduce three iconic weapons and two armor sets inspired by the Imperial Guard, as announced.
The news generated great enthusiasm among the community, especially due to the notable similarity between the scenarios of the two games. Both feature non-stop combat against hordes of terrifying aliens and robots, although Super Earth, in the context of Helldivers 2, still doesn’t face Chaos directly.
However, the initial Warbond presentation about two months ago during the Warhammer Skulls 10th anniversary event only showed brief videos of people painting miniatures, indicating that the full reveal would happen later. Now, Arrowhead Studios has detailed the pack’s contents and confirmed the release date for August 12th.
Although Sony’s official blog has not yet released all the details, a trailer has already shown what players can expect, including:
- TG-8 Sharpshooter: A high-powered laser sniper rifle.
- P/40-K Bolt Pistol: A standard laser pistol as a secondary weapon.
- 40-K Meltagun: An energy beam firing anti-aircraft weapon.
In addition to weapons, Warbond includes:
- TG-122 Demo Trooper: A Kasrkin Stormtrooper-style armor from the Astra Militarum.
- G/40-K Meltamine: A throwable anti-aircraft proximity mine.
An additional set of armor, still without an official name, will also be part of the package, appearing to be from the Cadian Astra Militarum. The content will also bring new standards for vehicles, although the initial perception is that these may be less impactful.
As expected, Warhammer 40k’s Warbond focuses on the Imperial Guard, not the Space Marines. This choice is understandable, as the Astra Militarum represents the force most comparable to the Helldivers, both of whom are often sent into battles considered impossible and often suicidal.
Despite its absences, Warbond shows promise, mainly due to its two iconic armor sets. While the pack includes a Lasgun with the TG-8 Sharpshooter and a bolt gun with the P/40-K Bolt Pistol, the lack of a Bolt Rifle or Heavy Bolter in the base arsenal surprised some. It is likely that a Heavy Bolter will be introduced as one of Warbond’s Stratagems, as the game already has the Cremator, considered the most powerful flamethrower available.
