Goalkeeper Josimar Évora Dias, internationally recognized by his nickname Vozinha and one of the standouts in the last World Cup, will face a restriction on his arrival at Colo-Colo. The rules of the Chilean league prevent athletes from using their famous name on their shirt, forcing them to follow local identification rules. This occurred upon the player’s arrival at the club on July 28, 2026.

The imposition is based on the Bases of the National Championship of the First Division of the ANFP, which establish the obligation to print the paternal or maternal surname on the uniform. Therefore, the Cape Verde national team player will have to choose between “Dias” or “Évora Dias” for his name in the match.

According to Chilean media reports, the experienced goalkeeper will only be able to display his well-known nickname, “Vozinha”, on his uniform upon formal request from Colo-Colo to the federation. The institution, in turn, would have to grant “special authorization” for such an exception.

The goalkeeper’s arrival at a new club after the World Cup

At 40 years old, the goalkeeper had been without a team since leaving GD Chaves, in Portugal. The player’s contract had ended during the World Cup, and the Portuguese club showed no interest in renewing it.

In the world tournament, the goalkeeper had notable performances defending the Cape Verde team. He was instrumental in the 0-0 draw against Spain, a historic result, and his team were the only ones to prevent a Spanish victory in the competition.

In another notable match, the goalkeeper attracted attention in the match against Argentina, where Cape Verde resisted in regulation time and was only defeated in extra time. During the game, he made two important saves from Lionel Messi’s attempts.

Brazilian clubs’ interest in goalkeeper Vozinha

After the end of the World Cup, the goalkeeper expressed his desire to join a team that prioritized his sporting performance, instead of focusing solely on commercial appeal. Recently, he received offers from teams in Brazil, including Atlético-GO and Avaí, but negotiations did not continue.

Radio ADN, from Chile, reported that the Cape Verde goalkeeper will have a salary of approximately R$254,000 per month. Vozinha signed an agreement with Colo-Colo for a period of 18 months and, according to the media, the player is expected to arrive in Chile on July 28, 2026 for his official presentation.
