Jeddah Tower advances at a fast pace, exceeds 430 meters and aims to be 1 km high
The construction of the Jeddah Tower, located in Saudi Arabia, reached the height of 430 meters, with the 107th floor already completed. The advance represents an important step for the project that seeks to become the tallest skyscraper in the world, surpassing the one kilometer barrier. The progress was announced by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who visited the construction site and shared details on social media.
Prince Alwaleed reported that structural development already corresponds to around 43% of the total planned, which foresees a tower measuring more than 1,000 meters. The resumption of works, which had been suspended, demonstrates a renewed commitment to completing the project.
The architectural project and the resumption of works in 2025
The Jeddah Tower is an ambitious project, designed by the renowned firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, with structural engineering under the responsibility of Thornton Tomasetti. Construction began in 2013, but was interrupted in 2018. The effective resumption occurred in early 2025, and since then, teams have maintained a fast pace, adding a floor every five days. This pace puts the project on a firm trajectory to meet its objectives.

Prince Alwaleed’s visit and the one-kilometer view
During his inspection, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal spoke to the workers and confirmed the height of 430 meters. He reiterated that the final goal will exceed 1,000 meters and that the tower will be completed as the tallest on the planet. This statement reinforces the determination of Kingdom Holding Company, the main investor, to bring the visionary venture to fruition.
The tower will be the epicenter of Jeddah Economic City, a mixed-use complex that will include housing, a luxury hotel, corporate spaces and one of the highest observation decks in the world, with official completion scheduled for 2028.
The next big step: the sky terrace on the 160th floor
Engineer John Peronto, main manager at Thornton Tomasetti, revealed that the team is focused on reaching the level of the upper observatory, known as the sky terrace, located around the 160th floor. This technical milestone is expected to be achieved in approximately 60 weeks from mid-2026.

According to Peronto, the current rate of elevation is around 4 meters per week, which suggests that the structure could exceed 500 meters in 2026. The tower must have at least 167 floors, surpassing the 163 of the Burj Khalifa, in Dubai, which has 828 meters.
Jeddah Tower stands out amid challenges from other Saudi megaprojects
While the Jeddah Tower moves forward steadily, other major projects in Saudi Arabia face significant readjustments. Recently, several contracts linked to NEOM were cancelled. Furthermore, construction of The Line, the ambitious 160-kilometer linear development, has been drastically reduced in scale and is on hold until at least 2030. This disparity in progress positions Jeddah Tower as one of the kingdom’s few megaprojects to maintain the original schedule in full swing, cementing its strategic importance and demonstrating the consortium’s ability to execute.

The resumption in 2025 has already allowed the structure to surpass other emblematic buildings in Dubai, such as 23 Marina. Installation of the glass facade is underway, while mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems progress on the lower floors. With more than 5 thousand workers on site, the construction site operates at an industrial pace, with millions of hours logged without serious accidents, which underlines the safety and efficiency of project management. If the schedule is confirmed, the Jeddah Tower will be the first human construction to break the 1 kilometer high barrier, surpassing the Burj Khalifa by more than 170 meters and setting a new global building record.
