The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado EV will hit the market with a more simplified model offering, marking a review of the automaker’s strategy for the all-electric pickup truck. From August 4, 2026, the vehicle lineup will have a significant reduction, going from ten to just seven configurations available to consumers. This change reflects an effort to optimize production and options for buyers.
What changes in the offering of the Silverado EV electric pickup truck
The decision to reduce the number of versions aims to concentrate production on the most sought-after and efficient configurations, simplifying both the manufacturing process and the choice experience for the customer. This update for the 2027 model year represents an adaptation by Chevrolet to the demand of the electric vehicle market. For those new to the Silverado EV, this means a more focused and, potentially, easier to navigate array of choices.
Versions that are no longer offered to consumers
Three specific configurations will not be part of the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado EV lineup. Among the removed options are LT Max Range (4LT), RST Extended Range (2SP) and RST Max Range (3SP). With this change, the LT version of the pickup will only be sold with standard range and extended range batteries, while the Trail Boss maintains the extended and maximum range configurations.
The definitive farewell to the RST variant of the Silverado EV
The change to the model lineup also marks the end of a period for the RST version of the Silverado EV. After initially being introduced as the pickup’s main launch model, the RST was discontinued and then made a brief return in the 2026 model year, however, limited to the Stars & Steel Special Edition. This special edition was equipped with visual enhancements inspired by the American flag, but the variant will no longer be available.

- Standard Range Work Truck (4WT)
- Extended Reach Work Truck (5WT)
- Maximum Reach Work Truck (8WT)
- Standard range LT (2LT)
- LT Extended Range (3LT)

Next steps in pickup truck production and innovations
Production of the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado EV is scheduled to begin on October 12, 2026. Dealership orders will open in the week leading up to that date, with manufacturing of the 2026 model expected to end on October 9, 2026. In addition to the lineup changes, the 2027 model is expected to adopt the North American Charging Standard (NORCS), an alignment with other General Motors electric vehicles. All Silverado EV configurations utilize the GM BT1 platform and are assembled at GM’s Factory Zero plant, located in Michigan. This standardization aims to optimize the charging infrastructure and compatibility of the brand’s electric vehicles.
