Those who were waiting for a technological revolution in the South Korean manufacturer’s future large-screen device are at risk of disappointment. Recent tests leaked in the Geekbench database show that the long-awaited Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra delivers processing numbers that are very shy of market expectations.

In practice, the cutting-edge equipment that will soon arrive in stores seems to park in a comfort zone, without offering a real transformation in the company’s product line.

Benchmark numbers expose stagnation of new hardware

The record published in late July 2026 brought crucial details about the high-cost machine to light. Registered under the code SM-X946B, the system runs the Android 17 operating system and carries 12 GB of RAM, confirming the presence of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip. During stress evaluations, the component scored 2,424 points in single core and 8,446 in multiple cores, a very discreet advantage compared to its direct predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, which registered 2,233 and 7,822 points equipped with the Dimensity 9400+.

It is worth considering, however, that these initial metrics for unofficial products rarely predict the exact behavior of the commercial version. Equipment in the testing phase often runs non-optimized operating systems or engineering parts, which leaves room for optimization adjustments until the item hits the shelves.

Design and internal components undergo few aesthetic changes

The Asian giant’s conservatism also extends to the rest of the high-end device’s technical sheet. Behind-the-scenes information indicates that the external appearance and the front panel will remain untouched, while the power tank will not receive the capacity increase that was intended for the smaller variant, the Galaxy Tab S12+.

Given this scenario of continuity, consumers will find a set of specifications practically cloned from the previous generation:

  • Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a generous 14.6 inches in size.
  • Body made of metal with an ultra-thin thickness of around 5 millimeters.
  • Battery module preserved at 11,600 mAh of total capacity.
  • Unchanged support for 45W fast wired charging.

Even though this short-step stance angers technology enthusiasts, the corporate maneuver finds support in global financial reports. As the large portable device segment has reached a plateau of maturity, manufacturers prefer to maximize the profit margin on the most expensive models rather than trying to break records for units sold each quarter.

Value policy will define device acceptance in stores

If the leaked numbers materialize in the final model, the real speed gain will be restricted to a narrow range between 7% and 8% compared to the previous edition. In routine work or entertainment, this margin of evolution is statistically invisible to the human eye when opening applications or browsing the internet.

Without major visual or usability innovations, the billing label will take on the leading role in the purchasing decision. If the company decides to make the product more expensive in figures ranging from US$100 to US$200, convincing the customer to abandon their current equipment for such a subtle update will be an arduous task.

Annual release cycle comes into debate in the technology industry

No one disputes the excellence of the project itself, as the line continues to represent the pinnacle of the Android ecosystem on large screens. The hardware has plenty of power to run heavy games, edit high-resolution videos and replace notebooks in various corporate tasks.

The central problem lies in creative stagnation in the face of strong competitors. While Apple, for example, implemented the powerful M4 line processors in recent iPads, creating an abyss of raw performance, the South Korean brand’s insistence on recycling formats year after year highlights the urgency of a change in business philosophy.

A smart solution would be to expand the interval between generations of the premium family. By adopting biennial cycles, the company would be able to accumulate enough innovations to deliver a true technological leap, offering the public concrete reasons to invest money in a genuinely new machine.
