A Russian model who produced content for the OnlyFans platform has received a three-year internet ban. The move is part of a broader campaign by President Vladimir Putin against what he describes as “pornographic creations”, seeking to defend “traditional Russian values”.
Sofya Vershinina, 21, was formally convicted in a court in the Russian capital, Moscow, for involvement in the production and distribution of videos with sexually explicit content on the internet.

Initially, Sofya’s sentence included three years of imprisonment in a penal colony. However, this prison sentence was suspended and, in its place, internet access restrictions and the obligation to pay a fine of up to R$305,000 were applied. If she violates any of the established conditions, the original punishment can be reactivated.
Also known by her nickname Sonya Marmeladova — a reference to the religious and selfless character in Fyodor Dostoevsky’s classic “Crime and Punishment”, released in 1866 — the model would have accumulated more than R$2 million from the sale of her explicit content, as pointed out by prosecutors in Russia.
The model, who lived in a luxurious penthouse in a skyscraper in the capital, Moscow, also sold intimate material through the messaging app Telegram.
During the investigations, Sofya’s smartphone was confiscated by the police. Interestingly, a collection of sex toys belonging to the model was later returned to her.
Sofya is part of a group of Russian models who have been the target of accusations from the Kremlin, following Putin’s determination to intensify the repression of the country’s “illegal porn industry”. Among others involved, Diana Shurygina, 27, also with an OnlyFans account, is detained and awaiting trial.
