Fight in prison in the United States postpones P. Diddy’s release until February 2028
The scheduled release date for Sean “Diddy” Combs, known artistically as P. Diddy, was changed after the rapper was involved in an altercation inside the prison unit. The initial expectation was that he would leave prison in January 2028, but now his release has been rescheduled for February of the same year, according to information revealed on August 5, 2026.
At 55 years old, the artist is detained at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution, located in New Jersey, in the United States. He was transferred to that unit in October 2025, after spending approximately a year in the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center.

P. Diddy’s conviction took place in July 2025, resulting in a sentence of four years and two months in prison. He was found guilty of two charges related to transporting individuals for the purpose of prostitution. The infractions involved the deployment of hired escorts for sexual encounters with two women who had relationships with the rapper.
The case was prosecuted under the Mann Law, an American legislation that makes the interstate transportation of people for the purpose of prostitution a crime. According to prosecutors, Combs allegedly coerced two women into participating in sexual encounters with male escorts and, in some situations, provided them with substances so that they remained involved in the activities for long periods.
These meetings, which were allegedly also recorded on video, were known as “Freak Offs”.
P. Diddy trial details and charges dropped
Despite his conviction, P. Diddy was not held responsible for the most serious charges brought during the trial. A New York jury cleared him of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges.

Thus, the rapper was sentenced only for crimes linked to the promotion and facilitation of prostitution. The process, however, brought to light a series of reports of alleged abuses that had occurred over approximately two decades.
Testimonies from P. Diddy’s former companions during the process
During the trial, prosecutors argued that Combs had pressured two former partners, Casandra Ventura and a woman identified in court only as “Jane”, to participate in sexual encounters with hired professionals, in contexts that included drug consumption.

The trial lasted eight weeks, marked by reports considered strong by witnesses, and generated intense repercussions in the United States press.
After the sentence was handed down on October 3, the musician’s defense team asked Judge Arun Subramanian that the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution be designated to serve the sentence. The purpose of the request, according to the lawyers, was “to address issues related to drug use and maximize opportunities for family visitation and rehabilitation.”
