Anticipation surrounding the iPhone 18 Pro launch event grows as Apple approaches its traditional annual presentation. Although official invitations have not yet been sent out, an analysis of the company’s announcement history suggests a likely date for the new product reveal.

Apple’s advertising pattern in recent years

The tech giant has a clear pattern for publicizing its annual iPhone events, generally with a two-week notice for the past four years. Looking at the details of the six most recent events provides a solid basis for predicting what will happen in September 2026.

  • The 2025 iPhone 17 event was announced on August 26th to take place on September 9th.
  • For the iPhone 16 in 2024, the announcement took place on August 26th and the event on September 9th.
  • The iPhone 15 in 2023 was announced on August 29th, with the presentation on September 12th.
  • The iPhone 14, launched in 2022, was announced on August 24th and the event took place on September 7th.
  • In 2021, the iPhone 13 announcement was on September 7th for the September 14th event.
  • The 2020 iPhone 12 had its invitation sent on October 6th for the presentation on October 13th.

It’s important to note that Apple’s usual iPhone event schedule was changed in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On these occasions, the launch of the iPhone 12 was postponed until October, and invitations for both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 events were sent out just seven days in advance.

Since 2022, the company has demonstrated remarkable consistency in its schedule. All iPhone launches were preceded by an announcement made exactly 14 days before the official presentation date.

Possible date for the presentation of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra

Although Apple has not officially released the date of the next iPhone event, the strongest prediction points to September 9th.

The company offered an initial hint this week by beginning the application process for U.S. store employees interested in participating in the California Event Support Experience Program. Employees were informed that the presentation is scheduled to take place in the first half of September.

Experts indicate that a Wednesday is a more likely option, considering that the Labor Day holiday will be on September 7th. Holding the event on that day would allow Apple to maintain the travel time it has historically made available to attendees during the work week.

When Apple is expected to announce the next iPhone

If Apple decides to hold its event on September 9th, following the pattern established over the last four years, the announcement of the official date should happen precisely two weeks earlier, on August 26th.

In this way, August 26th is consolidated as the most likely prediction for sending invitations to the iPhone 18 event. The date of August 25th is also a possibility, but it would imply an interval of 15 days, which would differ from the 14-day standard recently adopted by Apple.

New things expected at the Apple event in September 2026

The line of products expected for this year promises to give particular importance to the event. Apple is expected to reveal three new cutting-edge iPhone models: the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max and, for the first time, a foldable iPhone, which could be called the iPhone Ultra.

One significant change is the likely absence of the standard iPhone 18 in this launch. Apple is expected to restructure its schedule, reserving the iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 for a separate unveiling in spring 2027.

September is also the period in which Apple usually presents new versions of its Apple Watch devices. AirPods can also be updated on occasion, but there is no guarantee that they will receive new updates annually.

This launch event will be historic for Apple for another important reason. John Ternus will assume the role of CEO on September 1, while Tim Cook will serve as executive chairman of the board. This will be the first presentation of an iPhone under Ternus’ management, marking the beginning of a new phase in the company’s leadership.
