Compensation of more than US$90 may be paid to YouTube TV users
YouTube TV subscribers who have used the service in the past or continue to use it may be entitled to significant financial compensation, according to recently released information.
Those who paid at least one YouTube TV subscription renewal fee between February 1, 2017 and October 29, 2021 may be eligible for a refund of approximately $92.26. News about eligibility and action details was updated on August 4, 2026.

The origin of this compensation is a 2020 class action lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of the State of California, Santa Clara County, against YouTube and Google, its parent company. The lawsuit alleged that the companies did not adequately disclose the terms of automatic renewal of YouTube TV subscriptions.
The lawsuit’s central accusation was that the companies charged customers without obtaining explicit authorization to continue subscriptions, violating the California Automatic Renewal Law. This legislation specifically aims to prevent the continued charging of credit, debit cards or third-party accounts without consumers’ clear consent.
Google and YouTube have agreed to a settlement, which involves a total payment of US$7.5 million. This pact received preliminary approval in June, and the hearing for final approval is scheduled for October.

The deadline for submitting compensation requests is August 30th. However, some categories of subscribers are not eligible for payment: those who registered for YouTube TV through an iOS-based mobile app through the Apple App Store; those who canceled their subscription during a free trial period; and those who have previously received a full refund.
Impacted class action members should have received a settlement notification containing their login ID and PIN for the claim. Payments can be made via physical checks or electronically, using platforms such as PayPal, Venmo and Zelle.
Although the estimated payment is US$92.26, the final compensation amount may vary. This change directly depends on the number of valid requests that are submitted and approved.
