Samsung achieved a new global feat on August 8, recording approximately 5.2 million units pre-ordered for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. The South Korean manufacturer now faces significant logistics challenges to meet demand that exceeded initial estimates, solidifying this new generation as the most successful among its foldable devices.
The numbers presented for Samsung’s new foldables surpass those of all previous generations. Projections indicate that pre-orders globally will range between 4.7 million and 5.2 million units. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 model, considered the base version of the line, had a remarkable performance, accounting for around 2.9 million of these units.
This portion represents approximately 59% of the series’ total pre-sales. The current results reflect the highest pre-sale rates ever seen for Samsung’s entire Galaxy Z Fold line. Interest in launches was particularly intense in strategic markets, such as the United States, where orders exceeded those of the previous generation by 30%, and also in South Korea.
The huge demand for the devices exceeded Samsung’s expectations, leading to stock runs out for some specific variants, including the 256 GB pistachio-colored model. Due to the massive volume of orders, the company may have difficulty meeting the initially promised delivery times in several regions.
An interesting aspect of this positive scenario is the attraction of former Galaxy Z Flip users to the Z Fold 8. This change is attributed to the new format of the device, which has become a major attraction of the standard version of the foldable line.
