Many brides opt for traditional cars to get to the altar, but a farmer from Somerset surprised everyone last weekend by choosing an unusual form of transport: she arrived at the church riding one of her own cows. Instead of a conventional carry, Victoria Lee’s choice reflects a genuine celebration of rural life and deep connection with animals, a trait increasingly valued in modern weddings seeking authenticity.

Victoria Lee, 37, explained that she wanted her favorite Swiss cow, called White Chocolate Button, to play a central role on her wedding day, describing the animal as “pretty much my best friend”.

As guests headed to the reception in Mark’s nearby village, Victoria and her new husband, Mike, returned to the farm for milking before joining the celebrations.

“I grew up on my family’s farm in Dorset and, as we didn’t have any ponies, I started riding cows,” said Victoria Lee.

She thought, “Why not train White Chocolate Button to take me to church?”

“I also tried to train Basil, my other cow, but she didn’t want to, so we left her alone,” Lee added.

“She tried to knock me down,” joked the farmer.

The White Chocolate Button cow had already participated in other festivities on the rural property.

“She’s used to being dressed up as a ghost for Halloween,” said Victoria Lee.

“We put a sheet over her, with holes for her eyes and ears, so she’s already used to it,” he explained.

The bride was taken to the village on a tractor, completing the final part of the journey riding her cow.

The bridesmaids accompanied the bride and the animal on their way to the church.

After the ceremony, an honor guard was formed outside the church, with the godparents holding up various agricultural tools.

The reception guests had to entertain themselves for a few hours while the couple, right after the ceremony, headed to the farm to carry out the milking.

They joined the newlyweds without the White Chocolate Button later that night.
