The flow of vehicles on one of Ontario’s main roads was recently halted after the unexpected appearance of a bovine. The incident occurred near Aurora, as reported by local authorities.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) announced on its digital platforms that teams from Aurora were mobilized to respond to an incident on Highway 400, specifically north of 6th Line. The call was made on Thursday, reporting the presence of a large animal on the road.

In a public statement, the corporation instructed drivers traveling northbound on the 400 freeway, near the 4th Line, to reduce speed and change lanes. The message emphasized the presence of the cow on the right shoulder and the work of the Aurora OPP to direct traffic to an alternative route.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed that the animal was last seen while it was traveling to the Innisfil region. To assist with the containment and rescue operation, South Simcoe Police were called in to provide support.

Until now, the animal’s definitive whereabouts remained uncertain after Thursday’s episode. However, authorities did not record any incidents of injuries, either to people or to the cattle themselves, a relief in risky situations like this. The presence of animals on the road represents a considerable risk to traffic safety and can lead to serious accidents and prolonged interruptions.
