Palmeiras hires young Portuguese Fabio So, aged 18, to reinforce the under-20 team
Palmeiras made official the arrival of Fabio So, an 18-year-old Portuguese midfielder, after completing bureaucratic procedures. The young athlete signed his contract on August 10, 2026.
The São Paulo club’s intention is for the player to begin his journey with the under-20 team. Your commitment to Verdão extends until January 31, 2027, with a clause that allows automatic renewal.
Completing the agreement took longer than expected due to issues with the athlete’s work visa. The expectation was that the situation would be regularized in July, but the process was only completed the weekend before the signing.

Although the contract has already been signed, Fabio So’s name has not yet been registered in the Daily Newsletter (BID) of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). His debut for the under-20 team will only be possible after the registration is published.
Described as a second midfielder with the versatility to play in a variety of positions, Fabio So was looking for new opportunities on the European football scene after his departure from Burnley.
It was during this period that Palmeiras showed interest, becoming an attractive option for the team representing the Portuguese player.
In the recent season, the midfielder participated in 24 games for Burnley’s youth teams. Previously, he had a spell with Newcastle’s under-15 team.
