Sony has revealed the Complete Edition of Ghost of Yōtei for PlayStation 5 (PS5), along with significant new additions to the game. The initiative brings a story expansion, a challenging survival mode and several quality of life updates.
Through a post on the official PlayStation blog, Andrew Goldfarb, senior communications manager at developer Sucker Punch Productions, confirmed the arrival of new Complete Edition content for October 1st. This date marks the launch of the narrative expansion and single-player survival combat mode, in addition to general improvements.

The new narrative expansion is titled Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara. Goldfarb explained that the plot is divided between the present and *flashbacks* that show Atsu’s past on the mainland. Players will encounter Nagato, a figure from Atsu’s past who has landed in Ezo. In the present, it will be possible to explore a previously unknown valley, which was once inhabited by “The Serpent” and his group of loyal followers, the “Vipers”. In the past, the journey includes Atsu’s experience at the Battle of Sekigahara and a pivotal moment in his life before returning to his quest for revenge. New features such as new enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets and dyes are planned.
The new single-player survival mode, called Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted, was described by Goldfarb as a version of the game for the *roguelike* genre. In it, players accept rewards to start new rounds, and defeating opponents grants advantages. Goldfarb teased that it will be possible to unlock additional characters to play with, with the trailer showing off Atsu with his double katana, Oyuki with the kusarigama and Nagato with a yari. The manager added that the team loves watching the impressive combat sequences shared on social media and is looking forward to seeing players improve in these races.
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition Content Details
The Complete Edition, which costs $69.99, includes the Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted expansions, the base game and the *online* cooperative mode Ghost of Yōtei Legends. Those who purchase this version will be able to immediately play the main game and Legends, while Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted will be added via an update on October 1st.

The Complete Edition also includes all *in-game* content previously present in the Digital Deluxe Edition of Ghost of Yōtei, in addition to the Charm of Hokkyokusei. For those who purchase the game by September 30th, there will be an early unlock of the Sakai Armor on October 1st for Atsu to wear. This armor makes a direct reference to Jin’s family, from the previous title, Ghost of Tsushima.
For players who already own Ghost of Yōtei, Sony is offering the opportunity to purchase Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted through the “Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition Upgrade,” available for $14.99.
This enhanced edition adds new tracks for Watanabe Mode, which will be accessible throughout the game when the option is enabled. There are also new stamps for photography mode, additional cosmetic items for New Game+, and a series of new Trophies for the Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted expansions.
Free updates and improvements to the gaming experience
A free update will be available to all Ghost of Yōtei owners on October 1, introducing the new “Beauty of Yōtei” mode. This feature offers an ambient view of Ezo, similar to a *screensaver*, so players can relax at home and capture stunning new images in photo mode. Additionally, the update will bring new quality of life features, such as the option to maintain the appearance of one armor set while utilizing the stats of another, and a new high-contrast accessibility option.
Ghost of Yōtei sold 3.3 million copies in its first month on the market, although Sony has not released updated sales figures since then. In February, the company stated that Ghost of Yōtei outperformed its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima, in the same period, and made a “significant” contribution to its financial results, which solidifies the decision to expand the title’s experience with new content.
