Insta360 X6 arrives with compact design and powerful sensors for 8K recording
Insta360 presented the new generation of its popular 360-degree action cameras, the X6, on August 12, 2026. The launch promises a more compact equipment, but with significant improvements in video and resistance. The new Insta360 X6 is now available for purchase both at the company’s online store and at other retailers. The device starts at $699.99, marking a $150 increase compared to last year’s X5, which cost $549.99. For those looking for a complete experience, Insta360 offers the Essentials package for US$799.99.
This special kit includes a variety of useful accessories to optimize the use of the camera. Among the items, an extra battery stands out, a selfie stick that becomes “invisible” in 360-degree recordings, a quick charging case and other important components.

Evolutions in the design and screen of the X6 camera
One of the most noticeable changes to the X6 is its more compact design, despite being slightly wider and thicker than the X5 model. The new version is 2.5 centimeters shorter and 4 grams lighter, making it considerably easier to carry in your pocket. The reduction in the camera body resulted in a slightly smaller rear touchscreen, measuring 2.32 inches. However, the panel received an important update: it replaced the X5’s LCD with an OLED screen. The X6 can record for approximately 140 minutes in 8K resolution at 30 fps before the battery runs out. To further extend usage time, users can opt for the optional X6 Power Selfie Stick accessory, which adds an additional 180 minutes of battery life to the camera. Furthermore, the durability of the equipment has been improved, with reinforced waterproofing for depths of up to 20 meters. A waterproof diving case was also developed to allow underwater filming up to 60 meters deep, without the case itself appearing in the images. Another advantage is the replaceable lenses, which are now five times more resistant to scratches and 60% cheaper, according to the manufacturer.
Smart AI features simplify editing
Insta360 has invested in artificial intelligence-based features to simplify the editing process and improve the user experience. The InstaFrame feature, which had already been introduced in the X5, has been improved. It allows you to create 4K flat videos, ideal for sharing on social networks. The tool operates by automatically tracking and focusing on people, pets, or other objects in the frame, eliminating the need for complex manual editing.
