Netflix readjusts plans in the US; Brazilian subscribers remain at old values
Netflix recently announced a new increase in the prices of its subscription plans in the United States, following a trend observed in the streaming services market. The changes cover all modalities offered by the platform, from options that include advertisements to the Premium plan.
However, to the delight of subscribers in Brazil, the company has not confirmed adjustments for the country at this time. The prices of plans available in Brazilian territory will remain unchanged for an indefinite period of time.
This price increase movement occurs just over a year after the last adjustment made by the company. The decision also comes at a time when Netflix abandoned its acquisition of Warner, which ended up being purchased by Paramount Skydance.

Updated prices for Netflix plans in the United States
In the United States, the most basic plan with ads will cost US$8.99 per month, representing an increase of US$1 over the previous price. The Standard plan will go from US$17.99 to US$19.99 per month, and the Premium plan will cost US$26.99 per month.
According to the company’s statement, the new values are justified by the ongoing strategy of investing in entertainment and improving the subscriber experience. The company stated that it continues to offer a variety of prices and plans for different needs and that, as it delivers more value, it updates its prices.

Current Netflix prices are maintained in Brazil
While the American market faces rising costs, Brazilian consumers will continue to pay the prices already charged by the streaming platform.

- The Standard plan with ads is available for R$20.90 per month.
- The Standard plan costs R$44.90 per month.
- The Premium modality, which offers 4K content and access to more simultaneous screens, costs R$59.90 per month.
The platform also allows the inclusion of additional subscribers, who reside outside the same household, by paying extra amounts.
These plans include features such as the ability to download content to compatible devices, the availability of Full HD or 4K resolution, and different limits on the number of screens that can be used at the same time. To date, Netflix has not signaled any changes to these values for the Brazilian market.
Streaming platforms follow pace of readjustments
While the current increases only apply to the North American market, Netflix often serves as a beacon for the rest of the streaming industry. When the company decides to raise its prices, other platforms usually follow a similar path at later times.
The company’s executives, in turn, argue that the adjustments are directly related to the growth of the content catalog and the new initiatives undertaken by the company. Netflix projects an investment of more than US$20 billion in content by 2026, encompassing series, films, live events, sports and even electronic games.
Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, co-CEOs of Netflix, commented on the company’s strategy, stating that they will continue to focus on delighting members, growing profitably and generating long-term value for shareholders, following the trajectory of more than two decades as a public company.
