Samsung is carrying out internal tests with the One UI 9.0 interface, which is based on Android 17, on a wide range of Galaxy devices. This process takes place simultaneously with the Open Beta Program, which, for now, is only accessible to Galaxy S26 series models, as updated on August 9, 2026.
The arrival of One UI 9.0 will introduce the Android 17 operating system to Samsung branded devices. The official launch of Android 17 took place on July 22, with the initial distribution focused on foldable devices starting on August 7. The company’s strategy is to prioritize the most recent models in its update queue.

The One UI 9 Beta Program was announced and started by Samsung in mid-May. By August 9, 2026, the company had already made four beta versions available to Galaxy S26 owners in six different nations.

The system’s beta testing phase will be restricted to Samsung’s latest premium smartphones. At the same time, an intensive phase of internal testing has already begun on a variety of devices, ranging from cell phones from the S and Z lines (foldable) to tablets from the Tab series.
Additionally, some phones from the Galaxy A line were also included in this process, expanding internal tests to less expected models, including entry-level ones. This expansion of testing to such a wide range of devices, including more affordable cost categories, signals Samsung’s accelerated preparation for a wider and faster rollout of the update, going beyond flagship devices.

The list of devices is considerable, but is not yet finalized. Samsung is expected to include more Galaxy models in its internal testing schedule for the software.
