‘Deponia’ game is free on Steam for a limited time; plot resembles ‘WALL-E’
The Steam platform made the Deponia game available at no cost to PC users. According to the SteamDB database, the game’s distribution allows players to add Daedalic Entertainment’s adventure permanently to their library, with the redemption deadline set for August 20th.
This initiative is part of a new round of promotions taking place in several digital stores, including the Epic Games Store and Amazon Luna. For Steam, there is no need to have a subscription plan: simply visit the title page, log in to your account and complete the redemption process before the offer expires.

Originally released in 2012, Deponia transports players to a planet completely transformed into a huge garbage dump. The narrative has a premise that is very reminiscent of the animation WALL-E, portraying a world in decay and a privileged society living in cities above the clouds, although there is no official connection with the Pixar film.
The plot follows Rufus, a young man with few resources, often clumsy, but with a strong determination to leave behind life among mountains of waste. Your main objective is to reach Elysium, a floating city where the elite enjoy a comfortable existence, far removed from the challenges of the surface.
Rufus’ plans get a new boost when Goal, a young girl from the upper sector, accidentally falls into a pile of trash. Rufus decides to help her return home, but at the same time, he sees the situation as a chance to enter Elysium and completely change his own destiny.

From there, the journey quickly develops into a love story permeated by mistakes, personal ambitions and moral dilemmas. While trying to win Goal’s attention, the protagonist also finds himself involved in a mission that could define the future of the entire planet.
Deponia adopts the traditional point-and-click adventure game format. The player has the task of exploring varied scenarios, interacting with very peculiar characters, collecting items and solving various puzzles to progress through a campaign full of dialogue and a very peculiar humor.
Visually, the game employs hand-drawn 2D animations, giving it an aesthetic reminiscent of comic books. The elaboration of Deponia’s universe presents influences attributed to authors such as Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and Matt Groening, combining elements of science fiction, satire and totally unexpected situations.
