Gears of War: E-Day beta successfully debuts on Xbox and Steam
The multiplayer testing phase of Gears of War: E-Day demonstrated impressive performance, with relevant numbers on both Xbox and Steam. The game, which was released for wide access on August 10, reached the level of 22,084 users playing at the same time on Valve’s digital platform, according to information released by SteamDB.
This result becomes even more significant when analyzed in comparison with previous releases in the Gears series on the computer scene.

Recently, Gears of War: Reloaded, which was released in 2025, reached a peak of 4,819 concurrent users. The title Gears 5, in turn, surpassed 10 thousand players connected at the same time.
The Gears Tactics spin-off, focused on turn-based strategy, reached 7,351 simultaneous players at its best.

An estimate by Alinea Analytics, led by Rhys Elliot, revealed that around 1.2 million people in the Xbox ecosystems covering consoles and Windows computers participated in the beta on the day of its debut.

The same expert indicated that approximately 90% of players who tested the pre-release version had already had contact with Gears 5, and 55% had previous experience with Gears of War: Reloaded.
However, most of these players gained access to the series’ titles through the Game Pass service.
The beta phase also demonstrates considerable participant retention. The data reveals that around 24.1% of users dedicated more than 10 hours to the game, 12.7% exceeded 15 hours and a group of 6.5% played for more than 20 hours.
