Lucas Chumbo puts on a show, gets a 10 and wins the Gigantes de Nazaré in Rio alongside Pedro Scooby
The duo formed by Lucas Chumbo and Pedro Scooby once again showed their strength by winning the title of the third edition of Gigantes de Nazaré, held at Praia do Leblon, in Rio de Janeiro. The victory was highlighted by a perfect backflip by Chumbo, which earned the maximum score of 10 in the competition, on August 14, 2026.

The sea conditions at Praia do Leblon presented ideal waves for the dispute, although they did not reach the magnitude of the famous waves of Nazaré in Portugal. Despite this, the quality of the waves allowed for high-level maneuvers, culminating in Chumbo’s performance, which surprised the judges with the perfect backflip, demonstrating exceptional skill in different types of scenarios.

During the warm-up for the decision, Lucas Fink suffered an accident with his board, requiring a bandage on his nose to continue the race. Despite the unforeseen circumstances, he returned to the water and, together with his partner Pedro Matos, who obtained a score of 9.00, secured second place in the stage.

The competition, in its third edition in Rio, attracted a crowd that filled the sands of Leblon to watch the main names in world surfing. Chumbo and Scooby coordinated their participation, taking turns driving the jet-ski and performing maneuvers in the waves.

In the final heat, the champion duo finished with a total of 17.73 points, the highest score recorded in the entire event. Then, Pedro Matos, world kitesurfing champion, and Lucas Fink, five-time champion, took second place with 13.33 points.
