Mbappé expresses confidence in Mourinho for Real Madrid’s new season
Kylian Mbappé showed great enthusiasm for José Mourinho’s arrival at Real Madrid, as revealed in an interview with the club’s television on August 14, 2026. The French striker, already incorporated into the team for the 2026/27 season, highlighted the Portuguese coach’s vast experience and his ability to lead teams towards victory.
“It’s very positive to have a coach like Mourinho, who knows how to win and knows how to show the way to achieve this,” said Mbappé. He concluded by saying that “every player is happy to have a coach who knows where they are going. It’s very positive for us.”

Mbappé was among the last athletes to return to training, after the vacation period that followed the 2026 World Cup. With the first official game approaching, the striker’s focus turns to improving his physical condition and strengthening his rapport with his other teammates. He stressed the importance of dedicating himself intensely to having good feelings before his debut.
“I’m sure we’ll win titles again. That’s what we want and it will happen,” declared Mbappé. The player also added: “I feel that the team is eager. We will be focused throughout the year to bring joy to all Madrid fans.”
After a previous season without major achievements, Mbappé expressed his desire to see Real Madrid regain its leading role on the European football scene. The striker reiterated that he sees a clear ambition in the group to lift new trophies, emphasizing the importance of maintaining concentration throughout the campaign.
Real Madrid will have its first official match on August 22, facing Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium, in the Spanish Championship. This clash will also mark Mourinho’s debut in official matches in his new phase in charge of the Madrid club.
