Moroccan is detained in Paraná after carrying out a scam and abandoning women at a bus station
A man of Moroccan origin, suspected of deceiving and then leaving two fellow countrywomen at a bus station in northern Paraná, was arrested in Cornélio Procópio.
The preventive arrest of the individual, whose name was not officially revealed, took place on July 11. The Civil Police of Paraná (PC-PR) reported that, according to data from the Federal Police, the suspect’s documentation in Brazil is in good standing.
Authorities are investigating accusations of embezzlement, bodily harm and damage, as detailed by delegate Adriano Diogo.
The investigation indicates that the two victims were abandoned by the man at a bus station in the city, shortly after handing him money. The amount would be for a service he promised to regularize their stay in the country, exploiting the vulnerability of foreigners with tourist visas.

Details about the investigation into the embezzlement and abandonment case
Delegate Adriano Diogo explained that the two women, after arriving in Brazil, were in a reception center in São Paulo. They established contact with the suspect through digital platforms, where he offered to help regularize his situation in the national territory. One of the victims, aged 27, only had a tourist visa valid for 90 days.
During the conversations, the suspect suggested that the women and their children should move to Cornélio Procópio, claiming that the city offered better living conditions.

When they were already settled in the city, in a house rented by the suspect himself, the women made payments for the supposed service. They were then left at the bus station.
The complaint was filed by one of the victims, who managed to get out of the vehicle during the journey to the bus station and alert the Military Police. There are also reports that, before abandonment, she and her son were attacked by the person being investigated when he questioned their actions.

“The statements were unanimous, describing practically the same facts related to the conduct of the person being investigated, which is why he will be accused of the crimes,” said Adriano.
After being welcomed, the women and children – a one-year-old girl and two boys, aged three and seven – were taken to a municipal shelter in Cornélio Procópio, where they receive psychosocial assistance.
What the suspect claimed in his statement to the police
In his statement to authorities, the man denied all accusations. He argued that his intention was only to help women, who, according to him, were homeless and starving in the capital of São Paulo.
“He claimed that, in fact, one of them, a friend’s sister, requested help to come to Paraná, and even presented documents and proof of payments that he had made for their tickets. However, his version presents many inconsistencies. He insists that he wanted to help, but the way he treated them completely contradicts this statement”, detailed the delegate.

The suspect also justified the women’s departure from the residence by stating that the property owner had requested that the property be vacated.
