The new Airbus A350-1000ULR is in Melbourne after completing its first non-stop test flight from France. The aircraft is preparing to repeat the journey soon, consolidating its capacity for continuous operation.
During the test stage between Toulouse and Melbourne, the aircraft remained in the air for more than 19 hours. Future commercial routes are expected to last up to 22 hours, covering distances of more than 16,000 kilometers.

This plane was designed to operate the unprecedented route of the Australian airline Qantas, which will connect Sydney to London. When it opens in October 2027, it will be the longest non-stop commercial flight in the world, setting an aviation record.
A team made up of four pilots and five test engineers from Airbus evaluated the aircraft’s systems during the flight from Toulouse. The test included checking an additional fuel tank with a capacity of 20,000 liters, essential to keep the jet in the air for almost an entire day.

Within the European Union, Sweden’s passport achieves the best classification, according to the Henley Passport Index. Swedish citizens are able to avoid the EU’s new Entry and Exit System (EES), which requires the collection of biometric data from non-members arriving in the Schengen zone, made up of 29 countries. This new system has caused congestion at the borders of some airports, adding to other challenges for travel in Europe during this period.
