Serious accident: car destroys walls on BR-101 in Linhares and driver escapes
A vehicle lost control and collided with the wall of two residences on the BR-101 highway, in Linhares, North of Espírito Santo, in the early hours of August 15, 2026. The incident was recorded at around 4:11 am at kilometer 145.6 of the road.
Authorities reported that the driver was traveling down the road and allegedly lost control, causing the car to swerve and hit the side structures. The exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.

The collision caused significant damage to the buildings. The violence of the impact activated the car’s airbags, which became inoperative and its circulation was compromised.
After the accident, the person responsible for driving the car left the scene, offering no information or taking measures to protect the area on the road.

When inspecting the car, the agents located a chopper, an item used to crush substances, in the center console. Inside, traces of plant material were found that had characteristics similar to marijuana. The discovery of this substance may explain the driver’s quick escape, who abandoned the damaged vehicle to avoid being caught and the legal consequences of possession. The object was confiscated and attached to the police report.
Due to abandonment, the car had to be removed by tow truck and transported to a regulated parking lot.
Fines were imposed for driving without the necessary attention and for not removing the car from the road, which compromises safety and traffic flow.
The incident record was forwarded to the Linhares Civil Police Station. The fact was categorized as evasion of the scene of a traffic accident, an infraction stipulated in article 305 of the Brazilian Traffic Code.
