The body of Welsh pop singer Bonnie Tyler was laid to rest in her hometown of Swansea on August 15, more than a month after her death. Fans gathered to pay their respects as the hearse passed through the streets, before his burial, scheduled for August 17th.

Susan Storton, a Swansea resident and long-time admirer, expressed the general feeling of the community. She referred to the artist as “our Welsh queen”, describing her as a “lovely lady” with whom she shared many laughs, and commented that everyone wanted to pay their last respects.

Admiration for the artist was not restricted to the United Kingdom. Enrico and his mother, Sabina, traveled from Berlin, Germany, to Swansea to participate in the farewell and make a kind of pilgrimage to the singer’s homeland.

Enrico explained the importance of this journey, stating that “We’ve listened to Bonnie Tyler our whole lives. So, it’s very important for us to come here to say goodbye together.” He added that the moment was “very emotional” and that they might “even cry a little” if the procession passed by where they were.

Known worldwide for her 1980s power ballads like “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero,” Bonnie Tyler passed away on July 9 at the age of 75.

The music star’s death occurred after she underwent emergency intestinal surgery, which led to complications.
