The remastered version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will officially include modifications developed by its fan community. The person responsible for The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project NextGen Edition, known as HalkHogan, released crucial details on September 29, 2026. He confirmed that he collaborated directly with CD Projekt Red in the production of the game.

HalkHogan details his official collaboration on The Witcher 3 remaster

The modification creator explained that, after a period without news, he decided to resolve players’ questions. HalkHogan reinforced that he is working with CD Projekt Red on the relaunch of The Witcher 3. From September 29, 2026, his project will be integrated into the game, eliminating the need for a separate installation of the HD Reworked Project (HDRP) mod for computers and consoles.

The mod’s developer has ensured that a wide range of visual elements have received special attention. This includes all characters, creatures, animals, flora, and the armor and equipment sets used by Geralt and his mare, Plotva. Most of the scenarios have also been improved, with HalkHogan dedicating himself intensely to achieving maximum quality.

Understand the previous partnership between HalkHogan and CD Projekt Red

HalkHogan’s initial work, the HD Reworked Project, has been renamed “OldGen Edition”. This previous project had already been included in the game’s next-gen update years before. Therefore, this does not represent the first time that the mod developer has officially worked with the Polish company that created the saga.

New gameplay and expansion materials revealed

CD Projekt Red took advantage of the gamescom 2026 broadcast to show additional gameplay footage from The Witcher 3 Remastered. This new content showed scenes from the “Songs of the Past” expansion, which is still in the development phase.

On another front, protagonist Geralt of Rivia has been confirmed as a skin available for use in the game Diablo 4. This inclusion will occur simultaneously with the launch of The Witcher 3 Remastered on Battle.net, marking the first time that Blizzard’s platform hosts the RPG in its sales catalog.

Release date and platforms for the remaster are confirmed

The expected date for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is September 29, 2026. The title will be available for personal computers, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and also for the Nintendo Switch 2. On the same day, the game will make its debut on the Battle.net platform. Owners of the original version will have access to the update for free.

The impact of recognizing projects developed by fans

The cooperation between HalkHogan and CD Projekt Red highlights a growing trend in the gaming sector. Increasingly, studios are officially recognizing and integrating high-quality work created by the modding community into their projects.

It is uncommon for mod developers to see their creations incorporated directly into the original games. HalkHogan’s situation serves as a notable case of professional appreciation in the world of modifications. For players, the benefit is clear: the remaster arrives with the best community improvements already included, eliminating the need for manual installations, which demonstrates the developer’s commitment to improving the Geralt of Rivia universe.
