The highly anticipated game Grand Theft Auto 6 aims to run at 30 frames per second (fps) on PlayStation 5, and developer Rockstar Games has not yet determined whether a higher performance mode will be implemented at a later date. This optimization is a common challenge in large-scale open-world titles that require intensive graphics processing.

This frame rate target should also extend to the PS5 Pro, even with its improved GPU. However, it is expected that the console will not have the capacity to double this frame rate, maintaining the optimization challenge for the game to deliver high visual fidelity and density.

The information was recently confirmed by YouTuber Davy Jones, who visited the production company’s studios in Edinburgh, Scotland, alongside other content creators.

Jones obtained confirmation that the title targets 30fps on all console platforms, directly from Rob Nelson, the game’s lead developer and co-director.

Rob Nelson hinted at the possibility of future optimizations, mentioning the need to “consult with the technical team to determine whether there will be a 60fps option at launch or later.”

Given the complexity and vast scale of Grand Theft Auto 6’s open world, achieving 60fps on the PlayStation 5’s standard hardware would be an astonishing feat given the intensive graphics resources required to render such detailed environments.
