New speculation in the world of technology points to an advanced feature in Oppo’s next models. A rumor indicates that the yet-to-be-released Oppo Reno17 series may incorporate support for a teleconverter accessory, a feature usually associated with high-performance cameras.
The news comes after the launch of the Reno16 series, which was unveiled in China in May and subsequently reached global markets including India in July. While the Reno16 line introduced the “AI Snap Key”, expectations now turn to a standout feature in the future generation, which could raise the bar for mobile photography for users.
The teleconverter, if implemented, could significantly enhance the optical zoom capabilities of smartphones. The Oppo Reno16 and Reno16 Pro series already have a 50MP periscopic telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. With the addition of this accessory, the Reno17 series would have the potential to offer an even greater optical zoom range, allowing for more detailed captures from a distance.
The same tipster also revealed that Oppo even tested a 68MP front camera with a 1:1 square aspect ratio for the Reno17 series. However, this idea may have been abandoned by the company, now focusing on improving zoom.
Oppo’s decision to include teleconverter support in the Reno17 series may be linked to a market positioning strategy. The tipster suggests that this premium innovation could result in an increase in the price of upcoming devices, reflecting investment in advanced photography technology.
