LG presented an updated version of its vision for smart homes at IFA 2026. The highlight was the announcement of ThinQ Claw, an artificial intelligence agent capable of using text chat to understand orders and coordinate various devices and services.
This technology considers information such as daily routine, schedule, environment and device usage history to proactively suggest actions. The objective is to reduce the need for the user to configure commands manually.
The ThinQ Claw system expands interaction beyond direct commands
ThinQ Claw was developed from the OpenClaw concept and later adapted for LG’s AI Home system. The company reported that the agent can interpret a request considering the context in which it occurs.
A practical example shown by LG details the preparation of the house to receive guests. The system can help organize and manage the appliances used in this process.
Another possible scenario is the arrival of the resident. The agent has the ability to check the temperature and air quality before that moment and, based on the conditions found, suggest the most appropriate actions.
The feature also integrates with calendars and other digital services. Instead of creating a rigid sequence of automations, users can simply communicate their plans via chat. The system can even store preferences and aversions to guide future interactions.
Integrated energy management with the new platform
LG also takes advantage of IFA to showcase Homey, a platform developed by Athom and acquired by the company in 2024. This system unifies products from different manufacturers and services into a single interface.
One of the demonstrations focused on the Home Energy Management System (HEMS). This tool connects smart meters, solar panels, batteries, electric vehicle chargers and household appliances, monitoring the home’s energy generation, storage and consumption.
According to LG, intelligent coordination can contribute to reducing electricity costs. The system is even capable of considering dynamic energy prices in regions where this tariff model is available.
- Features featured included:
- Integration between solar panels and batteries;
- Management of electric vehicle chargers;
- Control of connected household appliances;
- Coordination of energy generation and storage;
- Adjustments in consumption according to available prices.
Artificial intelligence expands to commercial and multifamily environments
Another launch at the fair is the LG ThinQ Pro, which makes its debut on the European market. This solution is aimed at multi-family homes and commercial environments, offering advanced features for device and facility management.
