Recently, on July 23, OpenAI announced the expansion of the functionality of the ChatGPT application for iOS, allowing users of compatible iPhones to view conversation content directly on the Dynamic Island. This improvement adds to the existing ability to maintain voice dialogues through the resource.

OpenAI’s new feature is displayed in the form of Live Activities, which overlay the device’s screen, allowing access to information without the need to open the application. To activate this function, users must enable the “Background conversations” option in the “Voice” menu of ChatGPT settings.

OpenAI ends collaboration with Cursor platform

In a significant decision, OpenAI reported that the agentic AI tool for code, Cursor, will lose access to its models starting November 12th. The measure was announced after the acquisition of Cursor by SpaceXAI, the company that maintains Grok and which is one of OpenAI’s main competitors in the artificial intelligence market.

OpenAI justified the termination of the partnership by citing a lack of confidence that SpaceXAI would use its technology in compliance with the terms of service. The company also cited “previous experiences with Elon Musk’s companies that violated contracts” as part of the motivation for the decision.

Official statement from OpenAI on the end of the partnership

OpenAI has officially commented on the topic. In a statement, the company said: “We are ending our partnership with Cursor following its acquisition by SpaceX. Under our proposal, Cursor’s direct access to our models will end on November 12. We know that the people most affected by this decision are the developers who rely on OpenAI models on Cursor. We care about their experience in this transition and are ready to go above and beyond to support them.”

The company detailed examples of previous contract violations involving other Elon Musk entities. According to OpenAI, after Musk’s acquisition of Twitter (now part of SpaceX), the company violated the terms of the contract. Earlier this year, Musk reportedly admitted under oath that xAI (also part of SpaceX) violated OpenAI’s terms of service, which are similar to xAI’s own. OpenAI concluded the statement by expressing “tremendous respect” for the Cursor team and product, ensuring support for developers who rely on their models in the tool.
