Microsoft has released the schedule for the first wave of titles that will arrive on Xbox Game Pass in September 2026, with the long-awaited inclusion of a major game from the popular Call of Duty franchise.
The first game to be released, on September 1st, in all main Game Pass plans, is Shelldiver. This is an incremental title that tells the story of an elderly turtle on his journey to open a jellyfish sales business. Despite the peculiar premise, reviews on Steam indicate promising potential, suggesting that the experience could be worthwhile for subscribers.
Still in the first fortnight of the month, Speedrunners 2: King of Speed will be added directly to Game Pass, providing more competitive action on platforms with a focus on cooperative mode. At the same time, Game Pass Premium subscribers will have access to Dice a Million, a roguelike-style deck building game, now available in other subscription options.
Among the biggest news, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War stands out, the acclaimed game developed by Raven Software, originally launched in 2020. Its arrival reinforces the service’s catalog with one of the best-known titles in the series.
Later in September, The Royal Writ, another roguelike deck builder game with a medieval setting, will be included. Soon after, players will be able to check out Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage, which presents a “journey” focused on single-player mode, but maintains the excellence of its multiplayer modes.
Finally, the list confirms the addition of Runescape: Dragonwilds, the first independent title in Jagex’s consolidated medieval MMORPG franchise. With more than 1 million copies sold during early access, its popularity is explained by the open world gameplay, cooperative mode, item creation and survival dynamics, which clearly pleased players.
