HyImpulse Technologies GmbH, a German rocket manufacturer, announced on September 2, 2026 that it had received a Series A financing round of more than 50 million euros in equity. The startup focuses on developing suborbital and orbital launch solutions, using its own propulsion technology, with the aim of strengthening Europe’s sovereign access to space. The financial contribution highlights the company’s growth in the European space scene and its contribution to the region’s technological independence.
The investment round was led by the companies JOIN Capital and Ace Capital Partners, according to the company’s official statement. New investors include North Ventures, BW-Capital, Bayern Kapital and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Existing shareholders, such as Campus Founders Ventures, continue to support the initiative. With this new investment, HyImpulse has already accumulated more than 125 million euros in equity and public funds, demonstrating the market’s confidence in its proposal.
The resources will be directed to accelerate the development and commercialization of HyImpulse’s portfolio of launch services. This includes the second flight of the SR75 platform, scheduled for the second half of 2026, from SaxaVord Spaceport, in addition to the inaugural launch of the SL1 rocket. The company also plans to expand its production capacity and operations in European and international markets, strengthening its position in growth areas such as flexible satellite launch services, space mobility and suborbital applications for research and defense.
Jan Borgstädt, founding partner at JOIN Capital, said HyImpulse has developed a considerably more efficient rocket architecture. According to him, this technology uses approximately half of the usual components, resulting in significantly lower launch costs per kilogram of payload. This innovative approach requires substantially less capital to achieve orbital capability, making the company more competitive in the global space launch sector.
HyImpulse’s proprietary hybrid propulsion technology combines non-explosive paraffin fuel with liquid oxygen, offering a safe, economical and scalable alternative to traditional kerosene-based systems. Thanks to the lower complexity of the system and the reduced number of components, the technology allows for more flexible launches at competitive costs, an important differentiator for customers looking for efficient and reliable solutions.
Currently, HyImpulse already operates the SR75 suborbital commercial platform. Following its maiden flight from the Koonibba Test Range in South Australia in 2024, the company is preparing for the next launch of the SR75 from SaxaVord Spaceport in Scotland. In addition to the SR75, HyImpulse develops a suite of suborbital flight systems capable of achieving hypersonic and long-range profiles, with speeds of up to Mach 15 and ranges of up to 10,000 kilometers. The company seeks to meet the growing demand from government agencies, research institutions and defense sector customers for hypersonic testing, threat simulations and suborbital flight services, demonstrating the versatility of its applications.
The company reported that its suborbital and orbital business segments already have an order book exceeding 350 million euros, indicating strong demand for its future services.
