The Japanese manufacturer has started an unusual refund process for buyers of the paid enhancement of Xenoblade Chronicles The company’s technical support analyzed a flood of complaints about the title’s visual performance and decided to approve the refund requests.

Sold for around US$5 on the eShop, the additional package promised to increase the experience to 4K resolution and increase the frame rate to 60 per second when the console was on the base. Independent assessments proved that the technical promise was far from being fulfilled in practice. Several consumers reported that the graphics were inferior to those of the original version of the previous device, forcing the gaming giant to serve customers directly through official forms.

Development experts point out that the more robust architecture of the new hardware may have generated unexpected conflicts in the game’s code. The most cited defects include severe glitches in global illumination, delays in loading textures and the sudden appearance of objects on the map. Although the developer has not released a timeline for updates, statements confirm that the team is actively monitoring feedback from the community to investigate anomalies.

Community frustration shortly after the improvement was released

The feeling of disappointment took over the forums as soon as the first players installed the enhancement file. Screenshots flooded social media, showing scenes that lost details instead of gaining definition on the new equipment. Montages comparing the before and after served as definitive proof that the generation transition damaged the original art direction of the work.

The RPG fanbase, particularly enthusiasts of the franchise, has sparked heated debates about the lack of technical polish
