The 100% electric SUV Omoda E5 hits the market with a significant update, which promises to increase performance and practicality for consumers. The vehicle features a new 210 horsepower engine and an ultra-fast recharging system, capable of restoring half of the battery in just 16 minutes. The news was revealed during the Interlagos Festival, which took place between August 27th and 30th, in São Paulo, before the official announcement on September 1st, 2026.
Improved engine and performance of the new Omoda
The great innovation of the Omoda E5 is in its mechanical set. The model is now equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor of up to 155 kW, which delivers an impressive 210 hp of power. This strength guarantees acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds, making driving more agile and responsive. The efficiency of the electrical system reaches up to 98.5%, optimizing energy use.
Battery and ultra-fast charging options
To meet different needs, the electric SUV is available with two battery options: 50.6 kWh or 60.9 kWh. The direct current (DC) fast charging system supports powers from 110 kW to 130 kW. With this capacity, the Omoda E5 can recharge the battery from 30% to 80% in a period of up to 16 minutes, ideal for those looking to optimize their time on long trips or in everyday life.
Furthermore, the vehicle incorporates V2L (vehicle to load) technology, which allows the car’s battery to be used as an external energy source to power other devices. During the event in Interlagos, the functionality was demonstrated when recharging cell phones, exemplifying the versatility of the Omoda E5 beyond transportation.
Highlights in the exterior design of the electric SUV
On the outside, the Omoda E5 adopts a more modern and robust look. The new front grille displays striking lines, with pronounced angles and the X-Bumper element, giving it a stronger visual identity. The rear received a new arrangement of lights with a light signature inspired by the “lightning” style.
Other visual details include a Full LED optical assembly, daytime running lights (DRL), electric sunroof and 18-inch alloy wheels with an updated design. The trunk lid offers practicality with electric activation and presence sensor, eliminating the need for physical contact to open.
