The Ministry of Cities confirmed the release of resources to build 2,777 new homes through the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program. The resolution, which came into force on the first day of September 2026, allocates financial contributions from the Residential Lease Fund (FAR) to municipalities spread across six units of the federation. This financing mechanism is specifically aimed at guaranteeing subsidized housing for families in situations of economic vulnerability who reside in urban centers, directly attacking the basis of the Brazilian housing deficit.

Publication in the Official Gazette confirms rules for new ventures

Government validation occurred through the insertion of Ordinance MCID No. 1,147/2026 in the pages of the Official Gazette of the Union. The normative text specifies which engineering projects met the technical requirements stipulated throughout the 2024-2025 biennium and are now released for the signature phase. Under the auspices of Minister Antonio Vladimir Moura Lima, the measure expands the reach of public housing policy in strategic centers in the national territory.

The architectural plans approved by the federal government will shelter citizens who face housing difficulties in various geographic areas. The criteria for choosing locations prioritized urban clusters where the lack of popular housing reaches critical levels, seeking to offer a quick state response to reduce the waiting list for a permanent home.

Mapping of constructions shows concentration of investments in the Northeast and Central-West

The transfer of the 2,777 authorized keys reveals a strategy for directing funds to locations with historical infrastructure bottlenecks. The state of Bahia stands out with the largest share of approved projects, ahead of Maranhão and Goiás in the volume of planned construction sites. This injection of state capital not only ensures a safe roof for the low-income population, but also boosts the local economy by demanding labor in construction.

Check out the details of where the housing complexes will be built:

  • Bahia:The northeastern state has 1,233 residences. In the capital of Bahia, Salvador alone, Residencial Mirante do Bosque will deliver 749 apartments divided into three phases. The interior was also included, with Senhor do Bonfim receiving 100 properties at Residencial Edileia Miranda Braga and Teixeira de Freitas gaining 384 homes at Residencial Eurico Loyola.
  • Maranhão:The planning foresees the construction of 576 houses in the state. The city of Caxias will house 384 families in the Talmir Rosa 4 and 6 complexes, while the municipality of Bacabal will have 192 units in the Nova Vida I project.
  • Goiás:The territory of Goiás received the green light for 528 buildings. Residencial Jardim Florença, in Aparecida de Goiânia, will build 288 homes. The city of Trindade was selected to receive 240 homes in Residencial Cristo Redentor I.
  • Minas Gerais:The mining quota was directed to the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte. The city of Pedro Leopoldo will have 144 apartments in Residencial Lagoa Parque, helping to alleviate housing pressure around the capital.
  • São Paulo:The interior of São Paulo guaranteed 200 popular properties, which will be built in the city of Pirassununga, integrating the Residencial Loteamento Jd Marília.
  • Rio Grande do Sul:The southern region of the country closes the list with the municipality of Cachoeira do Sul, which was authorized to build 96 homes in the Condomínio Residencial Cidadania.

Legislation prohibits political use and self-promotion during key handover

In addition to releasing the budget, the ministerial directive imposes strict barriers against electoral use of construction sites. The second article of the regulation strictly prohibits mayors, governors or any public servant from using logos, party colors or their own names to promote themselves at the expense of the program. All visual communication in the workplace must have an exclusively informative bias and accountability to society.

Municipal administrations and contracted contractors are obliged to print only the visual identity standardized by the federal government’s Logo Creation and Use Manual. This requirement shields public policy against political apparatus, ensuring that citizens recognize the work as a State action, and not as a personal favor from a ruler. This is an essential transparency mechanism to maintain the credibility of housing investments.

Deadlines for signatures with Caixa Econômica Federal and start of work

With the official publication dated September 1, 2026, the managers of the Residential Lease Fund and partner banking institutions, especially Caixa Econômica Federal, are racing against the clock to formalize the transfers. The immediate effectivity of the ordinance unlocked the bureaucratic phase, allowing the winning consortia to begin delivering the documentation required for signing the contracts.

Once this stage of analyzing papers and financial guarantees has been overcome, construction companies and city halls gain authorization to clear the land and drive the first piles. The agility in this transition between paper and the construction site is what will define the speed with which these thousands of Brazilian families will finally be able to leave rent behind and move into their own homes.
