Florida SNAP recipients will begin receiving their monthly food assistance benefits on Thursday, October 1, 2026, under an updated payment schedule that reflects the annual federal cost-of-living adjustment. The monthly issuance brings higher maximum payment amounts across all household sizes, raising the maximum food allotment for a family of four from $994 to $1,023.

The Department of Children and Families, led by interim secretary Kathryn Kate Williams under the administration of Governor Ron DeSantis, handles the distribution of funds across Florida through Electronic Benefit Transfer cards. The federal adjustment takes effect simultaneously across the country for fiscal year 2027, with the U.S. Department of Agriculture confirming that “The maximum allotments will increase for the 48 States and D.C., Alaska, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.”

The state of Florida disburses regular food assistance sequentially over a 28-day window that runs from October 1 through October 28, 2026. Rather than issuing all payments simultaneously, the state assigns specific deposit days based on individual case numbers. Beneficiaries have their funds loaded onto their ACCESS Florida cards by 6:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on their assigned date, allowing immediate access to grocery purchases at participating retailers.

To determine the exact deposit date, recipients must check the eighth and ninth digits of their case number, which appears on official benefit approval letters sent by the agency or inside their personal MyACCESS portal account. The formula calculates the issuance day by reading the ninth digit followed by the eighth digit, ignoring the tenth digit entirely. This two-digit combination, spanning from 00 to 99, places each household into one of 28 distinct monthly distribution groups.

Households whose case numbers produce digits from 00 to 03 receive their deposits on October 1, while combinations 04 through 06 receive benefits on October 2. The distribution moves progressively through the month in set increments: digits 07 to 10 on October 3, 11 to 13 on October 4, 14 to 17 on October 5, 18 to 20 on October 6, 21 to 24 on October 7, 25 to 27 on October 8, 28 to 31 on October 9, 32 to 34 on October 10, 35 to 38 on October 11, 39 to 41 on October 12, 42 to 45 on October 13, 46 to 48 on October 14, 49 to 53 on October 15, 54 to 57 on October 16, 58 to 60 on October 17, 61 to 64 on October 18, 65 to 67 on October 19, 68 to 71 on October 20, 72 to 74 on October 21, 75 to 78 on October 22, 79 to 81 on October 23, 82 to 85 on October 24, 86 to 88 on October 25, 89 to 92 on October 26, 93 to 95 on October 27, and 96 to 99 on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

New SNAP maximum monthly allotments for fiscal year 2027

The start of October marks the statutory implementation of the annual Cost-of-Living Adjustment determined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. These baseline amounts establish the upper ceiling of nutrition assistance that qualifying low-income households can receive each month. The revised payment matrix remains in place for twelve consecutive months, expiring on Thursday, September 30, 2027.

Individual households qualify for specific allotment levels based on household net income, allowable living expenses, and total family size. Single-person households receive a monthly ceiling increase of $8, while larger households see scaled upward revisions to offset grocery inflation. The minimum monthly benefit guaranteed to eligible households consisting of one or two people increases from $24 to $25.

  • 1 person: $306 per month, up from $298
  • 2 people: $562 per month, up from $546
  • 3 people: $808 per month, up from $785
  • 4 people: $1,023 per month, up from $994
  • 5 people: $1,217 per month
  • 6 people: $1,463 per month
  • 7 people: $1,616 per month
  • 8 people: $1,841 per month
  • Each additional member: $225 added per person, up from $218

Accelerated schedules for TANF and SUNCAP participants

Recipients enrolled in specialized cash or nutrition initiatives operate under a condensed timetable compared to standard food assistance households. Beneficiaries receiving assistance through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program or the SUNCAP program, which provides simplified food assistance for individuals receiving Supplemental Security Income, do not wait for the standard 28-day staggered schedule. Instead, the agency issues these funds during the first three days of the calendar month.

For these programs, the state groups case number combinations into three segments. Case numbers ending in digits 00 through 33 receive deposits on October 1, cases with digits 34 through 66 receive funds on October 2, and cases with digits 67 through 99 receive their deposits on October 3. As with regular issuances, these balances become available for spending at 6:00 a.m. EDT on the specified morning.

EBT card usage rules and inactivity timelines

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program balances roll over month to month if recipients do not exhaust their funds within the calendar month of deposit. Unused dollars stay on the electronic card, allowing families to build balances for future food shopping needs without immediate penalty or monthly clawbacks.

The state enforces a federal inactivity limit to recover abandoned balances. When an electronic account records no purchases, balance inquiries, or active transactions for 274 consecutive days, the automated system permanently expunges the remaining balance. Once the 274-day window lapses, the agency removes the inactive money from the account, and the recipient loses access to those funds permanently.

Enrolled residents can verify account status, monitor remaining monthly balances, and confirm specific case number digits by logging into the MyACCESS portal online. The state agency maintains these digital records throughout the fiscal year 2027 operational cycle, which concludes on September 30, 2027.
