With 58.2 million supporters counted across international surveys, Spanish club Barcelona holds first place among the 50 largest football fanbases on the planet. Brazilian side Flamengo ranks second overall and leads all South American teams after registering 42 million followers in the same cross-continental compilation.

The ranking combines audience and supporter studies conducted by three international research organizations within their respective territories and abroad. European figures come from the sports consultancy Sport+Markt, South American totals derive from research by the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), and numbers for Mexico and Argentina rely on polling by the Mexican research institute Consulta Mitofsky.

Domestic polling conducted in Brazil confirms the same internal order among the country’s biggest clubs. In the latest national survey by the Brazilian polling institute Datafolha, carried out in person on July 22 and July 23, 2026, with 2,004 respondents aged 16 and older across 139 municipalities and a two-percentage-point margin of error, Flamengo holds first place with 22% of national preference, followed by Corinthians with 14%, Palmeiras with 7%, São Paulo with 6%, Cruzeiro with 4%, and Vasco da Gama and Grêmio tied at 3% each. The 2026 Datafolha breakdown also shows Flamengo leading in Brazil’s Northeast with 29% and in the Center-West and North bloc with 34%, while Corinthians leads the Southeast with 20% to Flamengo’s 16%, and Grêmio tops the South with 20% ahead of Internacional’s 15%. Previous nationwide measurements had recorded a similar gap at the top: an AtlasIntel consultancy poll show Flamengo at 20.6% and Corinthians at 13.9%, while an Ipsos-Ipec institute survey registered Flamengo with 21.2%, Corinthians with 11.9%, Palmeiras with 6.5%, São Paulo with 6.4% and Vasco da Gama with 3.4%.
