Arctic Eggs and 2026 releases from the ID@Xbox x IGN Showcase

Publisher CRITICAL REFLEX brought three titles to the showcase, starting with the immediate Xbox Series X|S launch of Arctic Eggs, a dystopian physics-based frying simulator set in Antarctica where players cook omelets alongside beer bottles, bullets, and cigarettes. The publisher also announced the psychological horror drama Mouthwashing, centered on the dying crew of a wrecked space freighter, and the apocalyptic thriller No, I’m Not a Human, where players interrogate visitors to identify shape-shifting impostors.

Two major narrative updates are also scheduled for late 2026. Telltale presented a story trailer for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, an updated version of its 2013 investigative thriller featuring a redesigned werewolf form for protagonist Bigby, improved audio and animations, a Noir Mode, behind-the-scenes bonus content, and restored playable deleted scenes. Meanwhile, studio ZA/UM announced Zero Parades: Director’s Cut, an espionage RPG starring exhausted spy Hershel Wilk that adds new narrative content, full English voice acting, and a Behind the Scenes mode.

The 2026 lineup also includes Scramble Knights Online, a cooperative action RPG with MMO elements set in the shared realm of Terracott where knights in training conquer dungeons and forge gear. Additionally, Austrian studio Mipumi Games and publisher rokaplay revealed A Game About Digging a Hole Together, a four-player cooperative sequel where friends dig on a beach, collect resources, upgrade tools, and search for buried treasure. The original A Game About Digging a Hole began as a side project created by a single developer in a few weeks and sold more than 1 million copies on Steam.

Matt Mercer and new RPGs featured in the 2027 ID@Xbox x IGN Showcase lineup

Four titles scheduled for early 2027 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC cover distinct genres. Voice actor Matt Mercer, a cast member of the RPG channel Critical Role, voices the host character in Mr. Magpie’s Harmless Card Game, a deck-building roguelike set in a workplace that will also launch on Game Pass with Xbox Play Anywhere support. The creators of Unto The End revealed Magenta Down, a sci-fi adventure where players manage radiation exposure and scarce supplies on a hostile exoplanet, while VANRAN offers dark fantasy action focused on climbing colossal monsters and striking weak points, and Waveling Island presents a hand-drawn pixel art creature-collecting simulator.

For spring and mid-2027, CROAK introduces a hand-drawn 2D precision platformer with online speedrunning leaderboards where a frog prince uses his tongue as a grappling hook and bounces like a pinball toward the Witch’s Banquet. Musical adventure Mr. Records follows record store owner George and his dog Buzz through psychedelic vinyl worlds. In the middle of the year, Chronoscript: The Endless End blends a 3D mansion filled with manuscript pages and 2D pen-and-ink worlds in a story about the Immortal Vampire and her Editor, while Drill Keeper combines roguelike siege defense, mining fortifications, and deck-building across distant planets.

Narrative adventures dominate the second half of 2027. Developed by Plotrick, Rustown takes place five years after an “idiocy virus” pandemic left survivors with cognitive difficulties, following protagonist Jian as she uses stealth to find her missing father. Love is a Roguelite (LIAR) combines turn-based card tactics with a procedural dating simulator using the proprietary LoveSync system, which offers 16 distinct romantic combinations across different genders and species. Closing the 2027 calendar, Graytail puts a detective with a chronic headache and a missing pilot’s daughter on a motorcycle to investigate a disappearance in the Pacific within a 2.5D pixel art world.

Two additional games with Xbox Play Anywhere support were announced with “coming soon” windows: Paper Shredder, an incremental game for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC about destroying confidential corporate records to earn a $1 million reward, and Red Kiss, a narrative tactical RPG set in Cold War Berlin featuring vampire spies led by a character named Daddy and a resurrected agent named Fritz, confirmed for day-one Game Pass on Xbox Series X|S. Exact release dates for Paper Shredder, Red Kiss, and No, I’m Not a Human, as well as Brazilian real (R$) pricing for Shrek 2 Remastered and the other announced titles on the Brazilian Xbox store, have not yet been confirmed.
