Electronic Arts has rolled out its football simulation game EA SPORTS FC 27 worldwide across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows PC. Built jointly by the EA Vancouver and EA Romania development studios, the release is distributed digitally for computer players through the EA App, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Fans can jump into the game at no upfront cost through the standalone EA SPORTS FC 27 Lite version, test the full build for 10 hours with an EA Play subscription, or purchase one of the commercial retail editions.

In its official product presentation, the publisher emphasized community-driven gameplay improvements and shared virtual spaces. “Welcome to EA SPORTS FC 27 – The World’s Game. Step into The Grounds, the meeting point of football, and feel more control across every mode while community-driven innovations deliver gameplay even more faithful to football,” Electronic Arts stated.

Free access via EA SPORTS FC 27 Lite and the 10-hour EA Play trial

Players looking to try EA SPORTS FC 27 without buying a full license can download EA SPORTS FC 27 Lite at no charge on PlayStation consoles, Xbox systems, and PC. This entry-level version requires a constant internet connection to operate and unlocks matches in Kick-Off, Learn to Play, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons. Core modes including Manager Career, Football Ultimate Team, and the open-world social hub The Grounds remain locked in the free client, though all earned progress carries over automatically if the user upgrades to the full game on the same platform using the same EA Account.

A second low-cost entry point is available through the EA Play subscription service, which starts at $5.99 per month on international digital storefronts. Subscribers receive a 10-hour trial of the unrestricted game alongside a 10% member discount applied to digital purchases of the full title.

Retail pricing tiers and Real Madrid cover athletes

For permanent ownership, Electronic Arts divided the global release of EA SPORTS FC 27 into three paid digital packages, each featuring Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé on the cover. On international storefronts, the Standard Edition retails for $69.99, while the Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99.

A third tier, the Ultimate Plus Edition, was offered exclusively during the pre-order window for $149.99 with joint cover art starring Real Madrid teammates Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham. This top-tier bundle includes Premium Passes for Seasons 1 through 5, a Hall of FUT Player Pick, cross-title items for EA SPORTS FC 26, and 10,000 FC Points—the virtual currency used to acquire in-game packs and items—distributed across five monthly installments. Official converted prices in Brazilian reais (R$) for local digital stores have not been confirmed in the disclosed release data.

Inside The Grounds open-world hub and new AI companion tools

The centerpiece structural addition to this year’s installment is The Grounds, an open-world social football playground capable of hosting up to 100 simultaneous players in a single lobby. Built around a central Terrace and three distinct neighborhoods named Montclair, Parkside, and Zeiza, the mode is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, while remaining excluded from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. Within these districts, custom Pro avatars earn experience points by competing in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and Rush matches, playing minigames such as Balloon Ball, Bucket Ball, Goal Control, Big Race, Attacking Scenarios, and Bocce Ball, or completing special objectives assigned by virtual versions of Kylian Mbappé and Chloe Kelly.

Beyond the console and PC client, Electronic Arts launched two external utilities linked directly to the player’s EA Account. On the web, the Live Manager Challenge Creation Portal allows authenticated users to design, customize transfer or cup regulations, and share custom Career mode scenarios with the community. On mobile devices, the Cranium PhotoFit application uses artificial intelligence models and a smartphone camera in portrait mode to map the user’s facial geometry and generate a three-dimensional avatar inside the game.

Licensed football database, crossplay rules and Steam player ratings

Serving as the fourth entry under the EA SPORTS FC banner and the 34th installment overall in the publisher’s football simulation history, the successor to EA SPORTS FC 26 runs on the Frostbite engine and restricts crossplay multiplayer to hardware within the same console generation. The licensed database encompasses more than 21,000 authentic athletes, over 800 clubs and national teams, and more than 35 official leagues, alongside a new FUT Gallery in Football Ultimate Team.

Among computer players, the initial launch reception has been divided. Roughly one month after arriving in digital stores, the EA SPORTS FC 27 product page on Valve’s Steam platform held a “Mixed” rating from buyers, reflecting a 48% positive approval score across 7,813 recent user reviews.
