Xiaomi has started the global distribution of HyperOS 3, its interface based on Android 16, for smartphones, tablets and wearables from the Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco lines. The rollout began in October 2025 with premium models, such as the Xiaomi 15 series, and extends until March 2026, prioritizing performance optimizations and artificial intelligence integration. This update represents a significant evolution since the end of MIUI, with a focus on fluidity and cross-platform connectivity.

The beta was announced in China in August 2025, followed by the global stable launch in September. The company confirms that more than 20 devices will receive the initial update, including gains of up to 30% in performance and a 21% reduction in app opening times. Users can check availability in Settings > About phone > System update.

Main visual innovations in HyperOS 3

The interface gains simplified icons and smoother animations between applications, inspired by minimalist designs. Home screen widgets have been redesigned for greater interactivity, allowing quick adjustments without leaving the home screen.

These changes aim for 15% more responsive browsing, especially in games and multitasking.

HyperIsland revolutionizes notifications

HyperIsland appears as the main highlight, functioning as a dynamic bar at the top of the screen to display activities in real time. Users access quick controls for music, timers or calls, expanding the panel with simple taps.

The feature supports up to three simultaneous islands, allowing floating windows for apps without interrupting main use. This functionality, similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island, integrates more than 70 live services, such as deliveries and scheduling.

Developed for Android 16, HyperIsland improves energy efficiency by 10%, according to Xiaomi’s internal tests.

Expanded sharing and connectivity

HyperOS 3 introduces proximity sharing, allowing you to transfer files between Xiaomi smartphones or even iPhones via NFC. This tool operates in seconds, without the need for extra apps.

In addition, Xiaomi HyperConnect enables screen mirroring on iPads, location via iPhone and opening apps on MacBooks. Integration with the Apple ecosystem represents a step forward in compatibility, facilitating transitions for mixed users.

Lock screen customization

Dynamic wallpapers gain AI-generated animations, transforming static images into cinematic content. A new list of clock widgets allows themed customization, adapting the layout to the user’s style.

These options elevate customizationo, with support for more than 50 preloaded themes. The feature consumes less battery than previous versions, optimizing daily use.

Gallery app redesign

The gallery application receives thematic filters for quick searches, such as “food” or “landscapes”, organizing photos beyond the traditional chronology. Adjustable grid view speeds navigation of large libraries.

AI assists with automatic editing, suggesting improvements based on visual patterns. Compared to Google Photos, the app now processes up to 20% faster on devices with recent processors.

  • Filters by category: Automatically identifies objects in photos.
  • Contextual search: Recognizes faces and events without manual tags.
  • AI Editing: Adjusts colors and removes noise in one tap.

Advances in integrated artificial intelligence

The HyperAI suite expands with tools for automatic captioning in images and noise reduction in audio recordings. The Super XiaoAi assistant analyzes screens for contextual suggestions, such as translations or circular searches.

These functions require compatible hardware, but benefit 80% of eligible devices. AI learns usage patterns, adjusting performance to save energy in routine tasks.

The rollout prioritizes flagships like Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Poco F7 Pro, with expansion to intermediaries likeRedmi Note 14. Tablets like Xiaomi Pad 7 also integrate the new features, expanding the brand’s unified ecosystem.
